PROCUREMENTS THAT HAVE MADE LINGEMANN HISTORY

SPLICING BELTS FROM CANADA

To prevent a production standstill, one of our customers needed five splicing tapes from Montreal, Canada, preferably yesterday. Even Lingemann cannot reverse time. But direct action, that is possible. Our employee drove promptly from Cologne to Frankfurt airport and flew to Brussels, where the plane to Montreal took off shortly afterwards. The three-hour layover before the return flight was enough to hand over the tapes. From FRA, we went by car to the factory. The production standstill was averted.

SPECIAL CABINETS

Sometimes small changes have big consequences. This is what one of our customers experienced when he wanted to change his production line to a new nappy size. Because now the question arose where to put the larger materials to be used. These were currently stored in the magazine and always had to be brought in from there. In cooperation with a company from Wuppertal, Lingemann developed a special cupboard that helps the customer save 3-5 hours per employee, day and line, and that with 18 lines.

ORANGE DELIVERY

A flexible logistics company can procure anything, including fruit. This was demonstrated when one of our customers, on the occasion of the introduction of a software called Orange, commissioned Lingemann to procure 500 pretty oranges and 50 raffia baskets. These were to be delivered to three different locations at the same time. Lingemann accepted the challenge. The right employee was quickly found, chose the most beautiful oranges and delivered everything to the right place at exactly the desired hour.

PROCESS OPTIMISATION SAVING

A big advantage is our view from the outside, especially when it comes to process optimisation. This time it was about standardising the splicing. Previously, the customer needed up to seven tapes per splice. In cooperation with a partner, we developed one tape for all, plus the necessary preparation centre. The standard achieved in this way was rolled out across Europe. This largest process optimisation saving in the babycare sector in the last 25 years reduced the number of employees required per line by 25%.

SAND FROM THE SAHARA

Have you ever wondered how manufacturers test their products? We have. One of our customers is a car manufacturer who needed a special sand for their in-house test track. But where can this sand be found? Right, in the Sahara. So we sent a few of our employees into the desert and they came right back with lots of this sand. As you can see, we really know our way around all product groups and do not shy away from any special procurement.

THE PARTING GIFT

As a service provider for the industry, we have to deal with many different challenges. One we still remember today with pride and pleasure. A very popular plant manager of one of our customers was transferred to the USA. The staff wanted to give her a special farewell gift. It was to be a handbag, but of course not just any handbag. However, the coveted brand bag was not easy to procure. A special order for Lingemann, which we fulfilled with flying colours.
